  • In a great spot. Similar to prior bottles, dark fruit, savory and rounded, nice acidity, alcohol in check. Delicious. 90-91

  • PnP. Dark fruit, good deep flavor. Very slight fermentation, but not off putting and my wife did not even notice it and she usually comments on everything. I think I tasted it because I knew it was a possibly.

  • This bottle was a bit tired, even heading downhill compared to priors. Another half-soaked cork may have had something to do with that, but I sensed a loss of persistence and fruit that seems to be fading out the longer it was open. The bouquet is still very nice and this bottle still has enough charm to be worthy of the reasonable investment, but I think all these 2013’s are as ready as they’ll ever be.

  • Very nice dark fruit, some mineral notes/pencil lead and feeling fresh. Definitely a tremendous improvement over the blend bottling, which after straight 3 bottles, certainly has a 2nd fermentation problem. The Rutherford, however, is a joy to drink, especially with food.

  • Well, this cork was in perfect shape compared to the prior bottles. Very dark ruby color with no sediment. Profound nose of ripe blackberry, cassis, peppermint, tobacco, and nice flora's. Followed over two days open and by the second day the palate had settled in to a very nice place. This was tasted on the heels of a 2012 CTBP Rutherford and it shows a lot younger than the one year difference would suggest. In general this is riper and a little more extracted. Bold and delicious. Great for pizza.
Happy to have three more to spread out over the next 5 years or so.
