1 hr decant paired with black pepper steak kabobs. Great red fruit and crushed leaves. But black licorice note dominates, which is not my personal favorite.

A medium bodied syrah sourced from three different vineyards which had a decent backbone of strong red fruits and berry notes but lacked a little complexity around the edges. Colour was medium dark, and I got some sense of oak on the finish which was pleasant but nothing came together in a way that made the wine better than average. I am also lowering the score to adjust for the price, given that better comparable bottles of Oregon/WA syrah are purchased for less.

Drank with RP to celebrate AHP’s birth. 1 hr decant. Opened up really nicely by hour 2. Unlikely to improve much with age.
