  More funk than I expected on the nose — gives way to some herbal notes, herb stems, subtle mint, black tea, espresso, and dark berries. Palate has more of the same with dark fruit at its core. Medium acidity, tannins felt pretty resolved to me. Drinks easy but not in a bad way.

  Decanted for 30 min before first sips, very fruity. Mellowed out over the next 2 hours. Not overly complex and very drinkable. Might have caught it on the downhill side. I still have a bottle left I will keep for another year.

  Drank over 5 hours, for first ~3 hours was very herbal (Brett?), eventually becomes fruity with blackberry and black cherry. Quite tannic and nice acidity, will not open again for at least 5 years. Reminds me of Château Simone except more tannic, is very nice but the herbalness and funk may turn off some.
