Vincent Dancer doesn’t do fining or filtering and minimises battonage as he believes in a hands-off approach to express terroir and vintage.
This was surprisingly restrained for a warm vintage. Lots of ripe melon and citrus, no discernible oak present but a bit of reductive flint. Light on its feet, having a lean, defined structure that makes burgundy whites my favourite pairing with Japanese food.

Reflects well the warm vintage with plenty of ripe stone fruits, ripe melon and an intense spectrum of crushed stones and minerals. Oak is non perceptible, but underlined by cheesy, sour cream notes. Beautiful fruits on the palate, almost pineapple with a tangy acidity and crunchy minerality. The phenolics gives an extra dimension to the finish. Its pleasant, fine and elegant. Of course too young but really lovely now!

Reflects the vintage - on the fat side. But it is remarkable how precisely Dancer extracts this buttery pure Burgundian chardonnay essence into his wines. A glorious mouthful, albeit on the fat side. I see a lot of Dancer's La Romanee vineyard in this wine in the sense of style. Not really a keeper perhaps so much as Dancer's single vineyard wines from this vintage.

SLDS December 2017: Lime, kiwi, some oak, some orange and peach - pretty open and expressive. Nicely rich fruit on the palate, carrying with good length and flavour intensity. Plenty to appreciate here at its level.

The wine has taken on structure. Plenty of acid now apparent. Another Dancer wine with a future beyond most 2015 white burgs.
