The 2017 Benoit Ente Clos de la Truffiere is heading to a phase where its reduction has softened enough to be enjoyed. Firmly stacked white tree fruits, sleek citrus and saline flavours on the mid-palate. Beautifully delicate and finessed with great precision. Less new oak influence and slightly more gentle than the stunning 2014. Drink 2022-2042. (91/100)

Late night at Maison Dakota. Drank in Gabriel Standart. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, lemon colour. Thin legs. Nose is clean, medium intensity, with aromas of fragrant slick white peach, flint stones minerality, perfume, gentle citrus lemon, salty popcorn. Opens up with more air definitely. Developing. On the palate, dry, focused high acidity, medium- alcohol (12.5%), medium body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of chalky flint stones minerality, wet stone, salty saline with more air, white peach, concentrated citrus lemon. Long finish. Very good quality. Premium Puligny, just on the tight side now and needs more age to unfold.

Plenty of smoky mineral action. has pristine orchard fruit aromas and flavours. It is compact and detailed, with a huge puff of chalk to the finish. Needs time but there's real quality here.

Dinner at Alinea: Everyone says this needs time, but wow, it was great last night. Heavy minerality. Super wine.
