overripe fruit and oak on the nose....big wine, more balanced on the palate with nice sour cherries and gravel. lots of alcohol...mouth is tingling. not a fan of these fruit bombs, but this is better and I was expecting. mellowing out with air

In celebration of Mike's outstanding reviews of his 2007's in WS Insider today, it was definitely a night to dive into the cellar. From the depths emerges a 2003 Fava Ranch, a wine whose nose announces the piquancy of the Zinfandel while the mouthfeel welcomes the softness of a nicely aged Syrah. Love it! In the mouth, it's the integration of the two grapes, with that added blast of petit sirah, that has me wondering how that magician Mike O. does it. Just beautifully full with the best of all these varietals blended into a dark cherry, plum, old vine field blend. It's dark, delicious, and delectable!

Really big Zin. Need a juicy steak. Very good if you can handle the big boad flavor.

Not bad but not special. Started with some heat which quickly faded, then fairly mellow and fruity.
