Dark garnet color, some brick orange at the edge, dense and opaque. The smells are cinnamon, currants, blueberry, brown sugar, dill, and meaty aromatics. The tastes are blueberry, currants, cedar, dark chocolate, iodine, chalk, stone, and floral tastes. The tannins are warm and furry satin with a sour fruit aftertaste and modest body. Complex and drinking well today.
This is one of the better older Col Solare wines that I have had. Leather, anise, cherry all nicely integrated. Silky texture with fine tanins across the mid palate. This wine was well cellared which I think sometimes makes a difference in what people are drinking. Nice wine that could go a couple more years but don't know if it needs to.
