Wine opened up nicely after about an hour. Early nose of dark fruit and smoke gave way to nose like a white spice drop and notes of pencil shavings. Mouth of tannin an acidity that never quite develops into the fruit you might be looking for. Finish is almost like the finish of a sip of pomegranate juice.

Classic zinfandel blackbriar and spice aromas, with a touch of white pepper. Briery dark berry, smoke and spice flavors, with round mouth feel, decent acid, and approachable tannins. Medium bodied; 15.4% alcohol. Not terribly ponderous, but very nice for the price.

Great wine for the price. Not too much fruit on the nose, blackberry and smoke. Nice body and finish with just the right touch of tannins. Would go well with any grilled or smoked meats.

Enjoyed with dry rubbed ribs off the big green egg, a tremendous compliment. Not a fruit bomb of a zin, but very balanced with a smokey nose.
