Ruby red in color. 14.5% ABV. Pretty nose of red fruits, rose petals and forest floor. Medium body with perfect acidity. Dark fruited and savory on the palate with flavors of black cherry, strawberry, baking spices and earth. The finish is long and supple. Gorgeous Pinot Noir from a classic vintage that has aged brilliantly. I’m inclined to drink over the next year or so.

Sorry, my palate is not refined enough to tease out baking spices, fine grade asphalt (not the underlayment to be sure) or whatever else populates some of these notes. However, I will say that this is the first of the Rochioli single vineyards that has lived up to the hype for me. Most, frankly, have been OK but not great. This one does have nicely integrated tannins and a very long finish, but no sense of heat as mentioned in some of the earlier reviews. Maybe the single vineyard Rochiolis really do need this much time...

Ruby red in color. 14.7% ABV. Showstopping nose of red fruits, cloves, sarsaparilla and forest floor. Medium body with exquisite acidity. Fruit forward and well balanced. Black cherry, cola, baking spices and minerals on the palate. Tremendous length on the finish. Stunning Pinot Noir. It is no surprise here that the iconic Rochioli Vineyard and the exceptional 07 vintage combined to create a Pinot Noir that showcases the Russian River Valley at its very best. Drink over the next 2-3 years.
