  • Another great showing, although quite different from the last bottle. This time the nose showed notes of deep, dark, mixed berries, mushroom, sous bois, hints of fresh cut cedar. The palate is deep and succulent with concentrated berry that sinks into the tongue, followed by a silky center with tart cherry, and slight tannic rear that shows notes of earth and iron. Small thoughts of mint on the finish but it's dominated by a deep iron which eventually mellows to a nice apricot. Exquisite finish!

I decanted this but I'm not sure it was necessary. I always try a little wine when first opening to see how it changes with air and this was drinking well balanced and fruity with nice earthy accents right out of the bottle. After a couple hours open the structure seemed to come through and changed the expression to more tart cherry and sharp iron. still nice and interesting, but a bit more austere and there was some roundness early on that was more enjoyable. I think this is probably drinking best right out of the bottle at this point as too much air seems to dull the fruit a bit.

  • Dark brooding brick-plum in color. Dried herbs and smoke and just a hint of cedar and maybe a touch of spice. Beautiful mouth feel on the front of the palate and med body. good acidity which follows the early fruit and leads to a fantastic, long finish of herbs and plum and just a touch of dusty mineral. Great wine but still a little young.
