Paper filtered and decanted leaving a bit of chunky sediment in the filter and yielding a dark hued ruby liquor with deep aromas of blue fruit and "forest floor" for want of a better term for the penetrating herbaceous aromas that underlay the pungent fruits. Loads of blue fruit on the palate -- blueberries, blackberries and dark cherry flavors all combined with a wonderfully structured wine that only improved in the two hours we took to drink it. As time went on it opened up and the mouth feel became more intense and the underlying acidity more pronounced on the finish. A wonderful wine.

A typical Shea Vineyard pinot -- deep ruby/purple with a lot of concentration and power. Full bodied with an almost silky mouthfeel - it tastes much like a Cote de Beaune. Blackberry and blueberry flavors upfront with dry dusty flavors that emerge on the finish. Slightly acidic which gave it a crisp finish, but otherwise well balanced. Not elegant or complex, but very enjoyable and probably at its peak right now.
