Surprise of the evening. Really approachable and complex. Blind I would have never guessed. Poured at Bear in Napa. Didn't get to see disgorgement date but must say was really balanced and smooth.

With some Brioche notes on the nose. They say the oldest or one of the very few Champagne houses that is still family owned. Which gives them allot of access to premier cru and grand cru. They make it the old school way - no malo, it doesn't happen naturally. In the 1950s this changed across the region, but not for them. Lanson, Krug and Salon are the exceptions there. Freshness and crispness but longer aging on the lees is needed to balance that out. So this is 2016 balance vintage and then disgorged '22. And this goes back 1998, bouzy 2003, and then a solera of the black going back 20 years. Long aging for the yeast and bready, and then the spices and layers.

brvino Wine Tasting #4 - Sparkling Wines (brvino Undergraduate Wine Club at UCLA): 08/2021 disgorgement. Base vintage - 2016. Beautiful tiny bubbles. Classic toasty nose, the said toast even appears slightly burnt. Maybe pie crust and caramelised apple. Lemon oil and a little bit of wool surprisingly. It’s actually quite a nice nose. Not a very full mousse but it’s coating. I get medium acidity, but I wish it was higher than that. A slight elegant bitterness. No sweetness. Apples and lemon in the mouth. Some burnt toast again. Nice and really long finish with apple pie notes. I think, this was the wine’s most impressive property. 8/18

91- bright, fresh, very refined and clean palate, light green apple, pear, light brioche, very faint nose, but vibrant, refined bubbles-
