Pale red. It has been two and a half years since I last tasted this, and if anything, it seems more reticent now. The nose is subtle, but classically de Montille with its savory overtones of topsoil and old leaves accenting notes of dried fruit and spice. On the palate it is medium with medium+ acidity and a mouthfull of notably fine and regal but still quite grippy tannins. This lacks fruit for me at this point - it seems stern and excessively serious. I'd like to think it will come around as de Montille's wines are known to do... but I am not exactly sure how that would happen.

Some light floral notes, sous bois and cherries on the noise. Doesn't seem to have that multi-dimensional quality that many wines from this estate do. Finish is tart, a little lopsided leaning towards bitter, but reasonably long. Not bad but probably wouldn't purchase more given price point.

Earthy sois bois nose, with some red cherry fruits and some spiced oak. The palate has lots of body and very grippy tannins. There's plenty of fruit, acidity and complexity on the finish, but this is still too youthful and I'm glad I've 5 bottles left as this needs a year or two more to soften and become a more attractive wine. . Although, if you like a firmer wine then you'd like this now. I'm going to wait a year and try again. 89 points

Pale red. A subtle but notably pretty nose offers aromas of warm red cherries, potpourri, autumn leaves, black tea, and oak spice. Medium bodied with medium+ acidity on the palate, this is round and expansive upon entry but tightens up on the fine tannin laced finished. Tasty enough now, but surely better after a couple more years in the cellar.

smokey nose, but on the palate lacking depth. A well-made wine, but just a little boring.
