Very pale and clear in the glass. Fascinating nose of green melon, mineral, and caramel. Touch of oak on the palate, with more melon and mineral, and a buttery caramel malo note, still showing decent acidity. I am completely charmed by this obscure blend of grape varieties, and the malo treatment it's been given. Excellent wine, unique, almost like a buttery California chardonnay made from fascinatingly different grapes. Sadly, virtually impossible to find in this country.

Astonishingly good. At first, this was a dead ringer for a great White Burgundy, as was the intention. Only after a couple of hours, when the secondary aromatics emerged, did it betray it's non-Burgundian roots with a more 'rustic' white Rioja-like profile.

This white wine is a “reserve Reserva,” so to speak, as it’s a rare bottling that is a step up from Niepoort’s Redoma Reserva bottling. Unlike the Redoma whites, this did go through malo. This has nice acidity, but lacks the mineral precision of the Redoma Reserva. Oak is more noticeable here than on the Redoma Reserva, as well. Overall, this gives a softer, slightly richer impression than the Redoma Reserva --- this reminded me a bit of a white Burg. with medium concentration of fruit. 1,900 bottles produced. This is the first vintage of this wine.

A bit disappointing given my previous experience. It seemed ripe, but with the usual Niepoort acid backbone. Not a great match with our food.
