Pours a brick orange color with plenty of bricking and thick long legs. Nose is concentrated and powerful and yields plenty of raisin tones. On the fore, there are raisins, leather, blackcurrant jam, leather, prunes, and caramelized plums. On the palate, the wine is very viscous with a deep, raisin streak running through it. Acidity, along with alcoholic heat, is very prominent. Flavors of raisins, honey, prunes, grappa are all very prominent. Finish is long, smoky, tannic and bold, almost somewhat abrasive. Interesting to say the least.

Madeira and Champagne (Chicago, IL): Bottled 2014. Initial impression: this had a slightly grassy and green nose. Extremely light on the palate and not too concentrated, I found this a very easy-going and friendly bottle of sercial. Very bright, but I feel as if I'd enjoy this more if it had a touch more depth.

App: Brownish golden yellow Aroma: Complex nose of dried fruits, nuts, yeast and herbs. Full-bodied and great concentration. Distinct sweetness, which is nicely balanced against the flavours in the wine. Very good length

Toasted hazelnuts, pecans and walnuts with notes of orange, barley sugar and some bacon fat - dry with great acidity and quite complex with great length.
