a very serious wine in structure. robust tannins and acidity along with 18 months in large botte means this wine will need some aging. a barolo in disguise? notes of cherry, red berry, tar, mint, wet earth, and leather. it's all here, it's just gonna take some time. put it down for at least 6 or 7 years. great qpr and a great producer. bodes well for the 2021 baroli!

Tempting and fresh, slightly reductive, bouquet, the palate is savory and complex with forest strawberries, crushed cherries, bright red fruit and hints of cedar. The lifted and versatile fruit together with medium tannins and beautiful acidity make this a well structured LN. I liked the 2019 and 2020 vintages but this is the one that makes me exited, a near perfect Nebbiolo experience considering the current drinkability and price range.

Really good LN, structured but with nice deep cherry fruit as well, all riding a solid beam of acid. Not as tannic as the Barolo, but still with plenty of tannin and acid. This is better than a good deal of Barolos. Lovely stuff. Probably best in 3 years or so, but can be enjoyed now with a decant and followed over time.

Cavallotto Tasting at Biondivino (Biondivino, San Francisco): Oh, this was a very good Nebbiolo. Alfio Cavallotto called it a real baby Barolo, and he wasn't exaggerating. Clear Nebbiolo nose, floral and red fruited, well balanced palate with some structure. Tart and bright with good vibrancy. Good now, also a possible mid-term ager.

Red cherry, raspberry, thyme, burnt orange on the nose. Pronounced intensity of fruit on the palate. Very high acid and tannin. Objectively I’m not sure it’s better but what I love about this vintage, even more than the 2019 I had last week, is the representation of the Bricco Boschis MGA. You can really sense the heritage in the 2021. Outstanding Langhe Nebbiolo.
