Marvellous Rosso di Montalcino. Really fresh and very young. Well made wine in the old style. No sign of wood at all. Perfect balance. Probably the best Rosso di Montalcino I have tasted.

i had a Poggio di Sotto craving (just been to Savoy Theatre w Tash - Legally Blonde.... wicked production) and reached for the 2001 Rosso. Such subtle aromas of roses, sweet red fruit, savoury, alluring. And in the glass: pale (very pretty) light ruby garnet mix...and I am thinking HOW can this contain the fruit I crave? And then...OMG... perfectly balanced sweeet ripe cherry fruit, lovely soft intensity, velvety soft, phenolically BRILLIANT; perfect balance. Real poise. Not at all showy, just sensual. Sensually fabulous. This probably deserves 97 points... but where would that place the 2001 Brunello (let alone the il Decinale)? At 9 years, this has hit full stride - not possible to improve further. The BIG problem with this wine is that I only have 2 bottles left. Best go to www.decvin.com and see what they have in stock.

Nice easy drinking Brunello, cherries on the nose and palate.
