Euphoria Wine Club BYOB Dinner (Bakalaki Greek Taverna): Right upfront, a clear hit of butterscotch and caramel, and also a ripe pineapple around the palate. Seems like the acids have mellowed, so not sure if it’s age (shown in the tertiary notes) or it’s just Italian (but i always thought Friuli would boast some high acidity)... It’s pretty well-made though, and enjoyable

My first Collio. Friulano, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc blend. Pale lemon color. Nose includes citrus, apple, pear, yeasty, floral. After it warms up a bit, the fennel and nutty aromas come through, and hints of peach & apricot. A little effervescence on the palate. High acidity, medium body. Some creaminess referenced by other TNs. Maybe some sur lies fermentation/aging accounts for this and the yeasty aromas? If I tasted this in a blind tasting, I'd probably guess Riesling, given all the fruit and floral notes and mouthfeel(although not as aromatic, and no minerality). A very refreshing, crisp wine. Liked it a lot!

Candied lemon aromas. Modest lavender and fennel palate. Fun and engaging. Great pairing with my butternut squash soup with ginger and a hint of garam masala. Really tugs on the celery flavor in the soup.

Everything smells reductive to me today. With some sweet fruit on the mid palate.
