Darkish robe, medium body. Nose of sauvage and bright fruit, which carries into the palate along with some spice. Wonderful complexity, balance and finish. We were thoroughly enjoying a 2018 Fourrier Morey St. Denis Clos de Salon until we opened this Gevrey 1er of same vintage, which stole the show! Medium body. Overall just delightful. Some sauvage on the nose and palate, deep dark fruits. This has the ethereal fruit common to Fourrier. Silky and everything is in balance. Where this is just slightly weak is in the finish, where the fruit and complexity trails off. I have experienced this with 2018 Fourrier’s - ehterial fruit, then can be weaker on the finish than the initial mouthfeel impression might suggest.

Some Gevrey sauvage greets the nose. It is loaded with dark cherry and plum fruits. There are pleasant florals too. It is fleshy, with ample structure just buried below the surface. It feels velvety against the gums and finishes with a gentle flex of muscle.

Well, it's certainly better than the 2018 Gevrey VV I had last week or the Gruenchers next to it, but this is not a banner bottle. Starts off with more blue fruit on the nose I've ever gotten from Fourrier and definitely some jam. There's some pretty red fruit on the palate, but there's also a fair amount of concentration, certainly more than I'd like - this is pretty viscous. There's a touch of heat on the finish too. What I love about Fourrier is the lightness and finesse, whereas this is concentration.

PoB - Burgundy 2018 En Primeur (Hong Kong): During an En Primeur walkabout tasting, so only brief impressions. Fourrier really handled this vintage well. The wine is fresh, complex and elegant. The CSJ has, no surprise, the edge over the also very good Cherbaudes.
