Nice rustic well aged barolo of relatively old school sensibility. Nose rose, tar, cherry. Leather. Raspberry. Roast meat. Palate has freshness and acid and still tannins of a dusty nature. Fruit remains. This is remarkably complex for price point. Rustic nature is quite appealing. No hurry to drink the second bottle. Finish very long. My style of barolo.

Last of four bottles in which I have used for cooking the last three. I believe the classic and rustic flavors of the wine really comes out in the Italian gravy. This one I am making for Pizza and like in the past, this is the epitome of an entry level Barolo that I would imagine was how it was made decades ago. Similar to previous notes, the fruit is having a hard time coming out and the tannins are still a bit gripping. Still I like the rustic feel of this and pairs great with southern Italian cooking.

8th Annual Holiday Dinner and Cellar Raid - A Month Late (Naperville, IL): Part of wine dinner and cellar raid so did not take detailed notes. I opened this up well before the party and used for marinara and drank some over the day. Similar to previous note, this was rustic and didn't provide much fruit. About 5-6 hours later and this was singing. Able to keep a little bit for early guests and they loved it.

Very enjoyable. Slight bricking on the sides of the glass. Decanted for two hours. Tannins have fully resolved. Consumed over two hours. Paired well with a creamy polenta with wild mushrooms topped with a drizzle of 25 y/o Gran Riserva Pedro Ximenez sherry vinegar.

Used for a Barolo reduction sauce but left a little to taste. Nothing spectacular, a bit rustic but not much fruit and a bit tannic. I'll give my other two a few more years but I don't expect too much more out of this. The sauce came out amazing.
