Not Mikes finest Zin but still very enjoyable. Slightly too high acidity compared to the concentration of body and flavour imho. At peak, no need for further cellaring

Dark in glass, a bit thin in the light. Disjointed, with no taninin nor structure. Perhaps over the hill ? Perhaps weak vintage? we were able to drink it with a NY strip but it did nothing to enhnace the strip. As a long time mailing list memeber I will, like the review below me, reserve scoring and just call the wine odd if not over the hill

I'm sure I've had well over 100 bottles of assorted Carlisle zins over the years, and this was one of the few disappointments. My bottle had rather monolithic aromas and flavors of smoked plum (an eastern European thing) and not much else. Acidity was ample but tending towards shrill rather than balanced. Perhaps this was an off bottle because it was certainly not consistent (in any broad sense, even allowing for vineyard and vintage variations) with the many other Carlisle wins I've enjoyed. Score reserved.

Garnet to dark garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of birch, pepper and black cherries. Flavors of Kirsch, orange peel and herbs du Provence. Medium acidity, resolved tannin, medium to full bodied. Drink now.
