Finally pulled the trigger and brought home a bottle that is mainstay of the local/regional section at our Total Wine. Very tight upon opening, really opened up with time and swirling. The color, nose and red fruit entry leave no doubt this Cabernet Franc. The Virginia terroir is probably as or more distinctive as that of Chile with an earthy, maybe even diluted iron flavor. Barely medium bodied. Loads of mineral and metal Dark purple but not close to opaque color. Moderate but prevalent and persistent little tannins from lips to finish. Even the taste of grapes and wild dark berries with secondary tar flavors on the finish.

Friends brought this to a Cabernet Franc tasting on 10/17/15. It had a lithe and subtle bouquet of raspberry, herb, and spice aromas…there was also something off that I couldn’t quite identify. The palate was round, smooth and thin with flavors of raspberry, spice and herb.
