Nice pinot, enjoyed it. Drinking well. Decent all around. Best Alesia I’ve had with some age. Everything well done. Probably the best Rhys I’ve encountered. Perfumed on the nose and the palette. Roses and incense with little forest floor. Black fermented tea elements on the back. Nice. Also a Russian River. *6th day. Light honey and earth on the nose. Cherries on the palette. *9th night since opened. Developed for the better. Cedar/incense box/graphite pencil has developed, fruit on the back, honey has blown off though tiny bit on the background. Great bottle. I let about four ounces sit ten minutes in glass graphite pencil has blossomed and sous bois on the nose

Popped and poured. A bit of brick color on opening darkening with air. Subtle spice, cedar and vanilla scents. Nice balance on the palate, with acidity and some nice Pinot fruit, a bit glossy in texture with wood or stem tannins dominating the palate that finishes with slightly dry woody tanins and just a hint of heat. Seems simple compared to more recent Rhys wines. I can see why this was an Alesia wine. With air for a day this has smoothed out and opened up with the fruit becoming more prominent while the oak impression has subsided a bit. Still slightly glossy but better with more Pinot character. Not really complex but very drinkable. I raised my rating two points.

Ripe cherries and spices on the nose, hints of herb, quite young still. The palate is really fresh, with ripe black cherry, hint of spice, chewy and rich toward the back - quite powerful and yet the candied cherry and bright acidity keep it fresh. Long savory and tangy finish. Super!

Darker ruby. Great nose of plum pits, violets, fresh cut plum fruit, earth, oolong tea. Lots of raspberry, black plum, rhubarb, and cherry on the relatively lush palate, with moderate acidity and smoothed tannin. A bit hot. Longer finish of plum and earth. Not as disciplined or taut as the last bottle 6 (!) years ago.

Medium-dark red color with moderate transparency. Aromas of rhubarb, black tea, pomegranate, and blackberry. Palate has pomegranate, black cherry, rhubarb, and cinnamon with a medium finish. This is drinking well and may improve with more bottle time, but see no need to wait further. Drink or hold.
