Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • Tasted with another '98, the Gros Frere et Soeurs Vosne-Romanee. Not initially giving much on the nose, this eventually opened up to reveal lovely, harmonious elements of cherry, earth and a pleasantly faint sauteed mushroom character that I really liked. It was smooth and full on the palate, exhibiting the pleasant sweet/acidity balance of dark ripe cherry and some balancing darker fruit character that I couldn't quite put my finger on. Interestingly, this wine had a real high point about an hour after opening when it was really singing, incredibly fragrant and delicious. Towards the end of the bottle it started shutting down again slighty. Never really come across such a short-lived High before... nonetheless, great stuff!
