I had the rest of the August 2nd bottle (which was a Coravin pour) and it was still very tasty -- especially with the end of the roast chicken. Minus 1 point for having it alone and not with friends / family.
Dinner and Wine (Tasted Blind) with Amy S in Princeton (Princeton, NJ): Such a delicious wine. Notes of red fruit, cherry, blackberry, cranberry, earth, tar, some spice and lots of herbs. I loved this on its own and I loved it with the roast herbal chicken (thyme, rosemary, sage, sea salt, garlic). Amy tasted this blind and the results were gratifying: she guessed Old World Bordeaux - first St Julien but then cabernet franc and merlot and St. Emilion. I was quite amused when she found it was California (which she claims she does not like!). Ah the joys of drinking wine blind -- and of tricking your friends! These were $20 / bottle on sale. I think this was our last bottle. I understand the winery went bankrupt in 2008-9 and is now operating with new ownership.

(Havens Bourriquot) #1; COLOR-dark; NOSE-just gorgeous red fruit components (cranberry & rhubarb); and then some creamy vanilla & cedar; PALATE-a big wine with lots of flavor; this wine is so delicious and drinks like a $75-$100 wine; like a Right Bank Bordeaux (67% Cab Franc, 33% Merlot); a very young wine; getting tannins on the mid-palate; subtle rose petal meets grenache chocolate soufflé on the attack that is then overwhelmed by the bitterness on the back-end because this is a big young wine; a beast of a wine; big structure and big tannins, but the tannins are bitter and tight, but still quite sweet; this should really develop over the next 3-7 years and will easily last 12-15 years; I like the chocolate and sour red strawberries on the back-end; very nuanced for me; I love this wine and think it's spectacular; RP-92; ST-90/93; GV-92/93
