Two obvious observations. This is a very good wine at a reasonable price and it's spicy!
Good clarity and sparkling garnet look. Maple syrup nose makes me wonder... Palate is soft tannins and dark fruit with a Big Bang of cayenne pepper. I thought the maple syrup nose would follow into the palate but thankfully that was not the case. Really spicy, to the point of being a bite at the end, and perfectly aligned with the Cajun style meal.

I picked this up in a grocery store in Carmel after talking to the guy who selects their wines (7th Street) for $25. A gem of Pinot. Great balance and nice fruit. The raspberry is there and so is some cherry. The tannins are nice. It is just short of a Kosta Browne or a Dehlinger Pinot Noir, but when you take the price into account, this Pinot beats them.
