  • Whoa, this was spectacular, bursting with black cherry, raspberry on the nose and palate, a hint of oak, and a mouth-coating sensation of soft, soft tannins. Very balanced and seductive. Wish I had more. This blew away the '01 Chehalem Rion Reserve tried side by side. Definitely the crowd pleaser of the night.

  • Decanted for several hours. This is a lighter purple wine, totally opaque, feels a bit weighty. Aroma is very earthy with some violets and some meat. Palate is somewhat thin and slow to respond, but eventually comes through with some plum and spice. Probably closed up now, this was much better six months ago.
