Mosel Fine Wines has given this wine three scores of 96+, 96+ and 96. Usually I find they are quite on-point with their ratings and don't bloat them too much, but I don't know if they are more in to the sweeter wines than me because this time I couldn't follow them...
Color has turned beautiful golden after these 16 years. Extremely aromatic on both the nose and palate. Canned peach, apricot, ripe pineapple, ripe mango, ripe passion fruit and a thick honey feel. A bit of wet slate and only a tiny bit of petroleum in the back, but I was really missing some green apple, pear, citrus fruit or more unripe fruit to give it some more acidity and to balance the quite heavy sweetness.
The thing that makes me love sweet Riesling is the fact that the acidity is so intense and completely wipes the sweetness away from your tongue and palate to not make it cloying, but I was really lacking that in this wine. Even though it was quite sweet and cloying it still had a beautiful lightness to it to not make it nauseating, but higher acidity would have pushed this wine to great heights...

Fersken, mango og honning på duft. Snev av petro. I munnen fyldig frukt, gule epler, litt rosiner, flott friskhet og balanse. Fløyel i munnen. Deilig vin.
