  • Prior bottle was 2 years and three months ago and the wine has evolved positively in that time, along the lines I'd hoped. Nose continues to show white apple and pear, but now with more honey and a variety of tropical notes as it warms including pineapple and mango. Between medium and full bodied with pineapple, guava yellow/gold peach and orange/tangerine again the dominant notes upfront and through the middle. Mid-body has opened up nicely and shows even more richness, depth and complexity than previously. It's just layers upon layers and richness and expressive fruit. The acidity, citrus and other tart notes behind (especially when slightly cooler support the fruit quite well. This wine is easily living up to expectations but I think it can continue to improve for many, many years to come and could even exceed my current expectations. As such, I'm going to save my next bottle until at least July 2026.

  • White fruit (especially apple and pear) along with citrus notes and honey qualities on the nose. Between medium and full bodied with an incredible mix of tropical fruits, both upfront and through the middle (especially pineapple, guava and orange). Mid-body shows some yellow peach as well. Backside shows excellent contrast with a variety of citrus notes (especially lemon) and outstanding acidity. The wine has excellent depth and richness overall and shows plenty of honey notes, but isn't truly "sweet" yet as the acidity and tart citrus notes give it such excellent balance. It leaves the wine feeling youthful and lively with enough richness to clearly be a dessert wine, but the tart notes and structure to promise even greater things in the future. This wine is going to open up and develop beautifully in the coming years. Now that I've had my early bottle, I should really try to be patient and save my next bottle for June/July 2022 or even 2023. As a GK, this wine has a long life ahead of it and has only begun to reveal its depth and nuances.
