Tasted in a horizontal with the three other Tamarack reserves from 2007 (Sagemoor, Seven Hills, DuBrul, and Ciel du Cheval). Black fruits (plum, blackberry, currant) on the nose. Similar flavors with a spike of black pepper on the way to a graceful and lingering finish.

Popped and poured. In the glass, this has a dark plum color with scents of cassis, a bit of leather, subtle cedar, and a little pepper. On the palate this is a round and supple wine with a boysenberry syrup viscosity and texture. The tannins are finely integrated in the background, and the wine finishes with a short dry burst of subtle chalkiness. The wine is supple, but lacks complexity which held down the score. The score was also limited by the short finish.

Decanted about 1 hour. Big burst of dark, red fruit with hints of black pepper and spice. Drinking very welll right now.
