Dark red in colour with dark nose of very sweet dates or fig. Fully bodied and round, quite smooth to drink with mild acidity and tannin. Very nice value though not my favourite style. No surprise it went well with minestrone, pizza, and lamb ragout pappardelle.

Dark, thick, opaque. Coffee, violets, blueberry, liquorice, salt and mineral. Medium bodied and surprisingly fresh yet the tannins fatigue my palette. Maybe another year or two in the bottle will soften them but my experience with montepulciano is that it doesn't gain in complexity, rather it looses its fruit. Better than competent, just not my style.
