Community Tasting Notes (2) Avg Score: 87.5 points

  • Tasted during my second semi-professional wine presentation on red wines from indigenous greek varieties except agiorgitiko and xinomavro, Le Petit Sommelier restaurant, Athens, Greece. Notes out of memory. Dark ruby-garnet. Very expressive and refreshing nose with capsicum, fresh herbs, anise and red cherry fruit. Mid-full bodied with firm tanins that require some cellaring, rich fruit and high acidity. Long finish. A very interesting wine from 2 indigenous greek varieties, mavrodaphne and mavro kalavritino.

  • A blend of Mavrodaphne and Mavro Kalavrytino grapes. Dark ruby with violet edges. Pungent nose vegetal: green peppers, herbs, mint & eucalyptus (very Cab like nose), Sweet spice: licorice, cloves. Smooth entry, bright fruit, bright acidity balanced by good tanninis. Refreshing. This winery has very interesting wines and keeps improving year on year.
