Nice wine. A day of air is beneficial, maybe more even... I decanted this for 16+ hours. Pepper, macerated cherries, soy sauce, rocks, plum. More of the same on the palate, with an additional depth and richness. Lean though... Peppery, linear, round, delicious. Balanced. Vanillan, herbaceous ... Lingering iron note. All around nice PS.

Probably my favorite Petite Sirah. Inky almost black in color... barrel spice on the nose integrates nicely with air time. Cali fruit with olive tones and not jammy... lots of chewy, substantive tannins and some scorched earth stoniness as well. No noticeable heat with such full body. Would be great with charcuterie. Cali Zins lean so heavily on Petite Sirah to give them substance, just skip the Zin and go straight to the big boy.

This has lost a lot of fruit. Perhaps an off bottle. Big whiff of American oak upon opening. Opens up pretty quickly, but not up to the last bottle.
