By all accounts the vineyard does not exist any more. I bought these six bottles at auction and was hoping that the reputation of the 2002 vintage in South Australia would see me right. And I am delighted to tell you that all is well. A previous post back in 2013 which prophesied the wine lasting for another decade was not far off the mark...
Tawny in colour with a a pale rim, the appearance is of medium intensity.
The first nose was very jammy (and I had trouble with a crumbling cork) but there was licquorice there, and toffee. The second nose - after a swirl - was plum compote, lanoline, with a good whack of sweet spice.
The palate was fresher - soft now with supple tannins: tobacco, mocha and blackcurrants on the long finish.
A real pleasure to drink.

What a blockbuster as powerful a wine as I have ever tasted.!! Half price bargain at $15. A big big Shiraz from OZ full of ripe berry fruit chocolate and tar. Complex with balanced tannins and an endless finish. Easter day treat but would still be drinking at peak in 10 years time. Wonderful stuff ..... if you see a bottle snap it up.
