Loose, crumbly cork. Madeirized nose, with a raisin top note over emerging red fruit. Palate displays a good balance of acid and alcohol, with mild, smooth tannins and flavours of raisin and dried cranberry. Clearly affected by oxidation, but bloody good in spite of it.

Nose of cocoa, dirt, raisins, and red fruit, with a hint of coffee. Smooth and syrupy, with rich flavours of chocolate and candied red fruit (raspberry, cherry, pomegranate). (Note from girlfriend: "tastes like an alcoholic Cherry Ripe"). Finish is not cloying, but it is delightfully sweet and sticky.
2nd night: After 24 hours (half-empty, stoppered, refrigerated), the flavour is the same, but the wine seems a little smoother, drier and less sticky. Not sure if this is a real difference or if I'm just in a different mood tonight.

Very alive and rewarding. Warm fruit and dark fruit sweetness. Finishes shorter than one would like, but the complexity is there to make this interesting.

Dark, almost a light PX in colour and texture, with lovely acidity still holding.
Clearly on the downswing but still more than enjoyable

Over forty years later, this still life and legs. Syrupy, accessible, soft, and delicious. Not complex, but delicious.
