Medium golden. A beacon of pure, high toned fruit with subtle botrytis. Medium weight and sweetness, tremendous purity of citrus and pear with a touch of bitterness at the end that suggests it will still keep. Absolutely terrific.

Medium yellow color. Liqueur-like nose with high tones, vanilla, orange peel, very light botrytis, anise, and herbs. Moderate sweetness, comes across as quite restrained. Complex, again with a crushed herb component that is really unusual for dessert wine. Long finish. Interesting, fresh, and very good.

Montrose Vertical and Others Dinner (Afghan Kabob): A great comparison to the 1979, this one has loads more petrol on the nose and finish, but not overtly so. Much lighter in color and tasting much younger, it has not developed the flavors of the '79, but is really beautiful. Again sweet but no cloying or flabby a good amount of acidity to keep things in balance.
