  • I first tried this a year and a half ago, and it has improved some since then. It's still terrible, though. This time it looked, smelled, and tasted like port. With a little air the nose gave way to cough syrup, and the flavors were of jellied gasoline. I kept drinking just to see what it would turn into; you now, like looking at a car accident. I actually wish I had more, though, as I believe it would work really well for cleaning up oil spots on the garage floor. Given the other reviews posted here, perhaps both bottles I received were flawed. In the unlikely case that actually happened, I decided to refrain from adding my 68 points.

  • Wow, this was a surprise. According to the label it comes from a single vineyard in Light Pass that is approx 100 years old. Aged in 1 year old French oak for 24 months, this wine is everything I love about Barossa Grenache. Some fruit sweetness and toasty oak form a very well balanced wine that doesn't suffer at all from it's very high alcohol. I actually really rate the '07 Grenache vintage in the Barossa. I've had a few now that are excellent and seem to defy the so called poor vintage. Needs time to breathe as well.

  • Garnet color. Deep, dark berry aroma with a touch of smoke and a little spice. Rich texture. Mild tannins but nice acidity. Finish is a little short.

03/30/11 - Opened another bottle. This time I detected notes of cedar and vanilla. Still a very good wine.
