  • Big, powerful nose with aromas of lemon tart and wholemeal toast. Creamy textured and quite rich on the palate, but enough acidity to keep it well balanced. Long and layered, there’s popcorn, more lemon and a lingering butterscotch flavour on the finish. These are lovely. Shame that was my last one.

  • Medium lemon colour, dry, medium plus acidity, medium body, medium alcohol.
Low intensity nose of lemon with a subtle peaches and cream note coming later. Cool climate Chardonnay palate with lemon, grapefruit and a slight pithy bitterness. What risks being a lean and and ungenerous wine is balanced by a rich mouthfeel that I assumed must be malo, but according to the bottom there was no malo, but extended time on lees. Only lightly oaked with spicy ginger notes emerging after a bit of time in glass.
High quality stuff, though I think most drinkers would like a little more ripeness and stonefruit to accompany the zingy citrus.

  • Big powerful nose of pithy lemon fruit and a little sweet pastry note. Although still very young, the depth of flavour on the palate is fantastic. Starts pithy on the entry, becoming sweeter and riper across the palate with a lovely pineapple note coming through in the middle. It’s fresh yet big and bold, the oak is there but it’s perfectly poised, just sneaking through to create a lovely creamy butterscotch flavour that lingers on the finish before it gets washed away with the citrus acidity. Superb.
