Dinner at Home; 3/27/2015-3/28/2015 (Fremont, CA): Medium ruby color, very little bricking; pomegranate, Asian spices, white pepper, slight heat; palate is full bodied, integrated tannins, juicy red cherry fruit, well balanced, no heat on the palate; finish is medium length. Very nice classis turley drinking at peak. 91

Dinner at Home; 6/27/2014-6/28/2014 (Fremont, CA): Pomegranate, red fruits, lovely Asian spices, spicy red fruits; full bodied, great spice, slight white pepper, big red fruits with great ripeness, not over-ripe, no extra alcohol showing; medium length finish. A lovely bold and balanced turley, drinking really well now. 91-92

Opened before oriental beef dinner, bricking on the edges of the orange-red frame, lightish bodied, humid nose of classic zin bramble, blackberry, port, nutmeg, heat. Sweet fruit in abundance, with similar notes and brown sugar, spice, toast and prune. A very nice showing tonight.

Poured from a magnum signed by Larry and served at our traditional Christmas Eve dinner with the family. Packed with flavor, but almost a decade in the bottle has made this a kinder, gentler Paso Zin -- in essence an iron fist in a velvet glove. Generous tears, deep ruby color and fruity/foresty aromas in the glass. A mouthful of wine that somehow never overpowers the meal. Dark stone fruits, black cherries and a floral freshness that bridges well with food. Mossy, ferny, cedar bark notes with that typical Turley apricot finish. Glad we had a magnum, as everyone (even Cosmo Alan) had seconds . . . thirds . . . fourths? Pity the wines that were served beforehand. Drink now; can't imagine this getting any better.

Past its prime. Still had some fruit left in it, but a bit of a chewy taste and just a little off.
