Roasted marshmallow, caramelized brown sugar on the nose. This one has an oily richness but with somewhat lacking in acidity for my palate. It has held up quite well over the years, perfectly sound but a splash of lemon juice wouldn’t hurt this one bit!
Maybe pair with scallops and beurre noisette.

Double Blind Whites and Reds (My house): Tasted double blind. 2nd Darkest color of the flight of 8 wines (the darkest was the '94 Weinbach Gew. [see TN]). Coffee and nuts on the nose. Solid acid frame and well balanced in the mouth. My guess: older ('94/'95??) CA Chard... This wine is holding up well. The person who brought it said it was searingly acidic in its youth.

Too alcoholic on the palate. Disappointing after the magnificient 89.
