This was mildly controversial, as I reversed my customary position and enjoyed a new world wine more than others. The wine is very dark and while unfined and unfiltered, I was surprised at the very heavy sediment that coated nearly one whole side of the bottle. Big waves of blackberry in the nose with some mineral backbone. Very fruit forward to the point of sweetness but not really what I would describe as over the top, though others felt differently. What redeemed it entirely for me were the relatively fine grained tannins that gave it some tension and the lack of heaviness that could have resulted were the wine not made with some restraint. A quite civilized 13.2% made it food-friendly and almost quaffable.
