fruit has gone, no balance for the acid and earthiness, no body or follow through over the hill and any remaining should not be saved for a special event

ruby red - tell tale Bien Nacido mushroomy wet earth nose with sweet spices The wine seems a touch sweet to me - ripe raspberry fruitiness stands out - that said, it is mostly balanced and has just enough backbone to stand up to the food - a roasted tri tip. Like many of Lane's wines, it is just a bit soft, lacking the structure that might push it to the next level.

Eaten at Legal Seafoods in the Boston area with cioppino. Very nice fragrant nose, definite cherry in the mouth. The tannins came out somewhat towards the end of dinner but were rather soft for such a young wine. Acids were forward but not by any means excessive, and a kiss of oak. It was fresh and forward and fruity – you might suspect some residual sugar but it’s not there. I can’t see the potential for aging this wine but it’s drinking so nice right now that I refuse to hold the aging issue against it. The wine gets its full props with the caveat that I don’t know how long it will last. A perfect red for light summer entertainment.
