  • Muted red berry fruit, showing some secondary flavours of mushroom, forest floor. Heat on the finish.

  • Pretty, light, floral Pinot. High acidity, Oregon in profile. Restrained, subtle. Nice.

  • Very pleasantly surprised - I was told that this would be more burgundian in character and it certainly was. Very Californian on the nose with sweet jammy fruits, but a lot of restrain on the palate. Extremely acidic upon opening, it needed a couple of hours to calm down a tad, but throughout there is nice core of cherries and red fruits. Still very tight and not yielding much on the finish. We put the remaining half in the fridge with the air out for a couple of days and of day 3 the mind numbing acidity was gone, the wine had rounded out quite a bit and strong spicy element had come out with the fruit becoming more subtle. Texture was silkier and it was very pleasing. I give this 89 for that it is today, but this has 90-93 potential... I would leave this alone for another 5 years...

  • Wow, this is really nice. A surprise for me and quite possibly the best Bien Nacido I've ever tasted. Bright cherry color. Lovely bouquet of black cherry, spice, earth, and minerals. In the mouth, terrific juicy cherry fruit that coats the palate with a rich yet zesty texture. The acidity is flanked by spice and earthiness, with a long finish that shows just a touch of tannin and oak. This was really impressive and drinking well. A-

  • (Tasted morning after bottle was opened) Very aromatic with notes of red berry fruit and subtle hints of toffee. Good fruit on the palate with some spicy oak flavors. Finishes nicely. This has much more character than the other 2006 Lane Tanner Pinot Noirs. I'm curious what a few years could do to this wine. Decent QPR @ $38.
