  • 12.5% alcohol. Very good long cork with no wine penetration. Decanted an hour ahead. Deep colour with some thinning but no bricking at the rim. Plenty of deposit in the glass in spite of the decanting.
The nose is the best part (after quite a while in the glass), with fleeting aromas of dark cherries and olives, but you have to work hard to get these. The mouth is much more anonymous with a rustic quality and a rough finish.
I did not like this wine three years ago, but I had some (limited) hope that time would soften its rough edges. Unfortunately that did not happen. This bottle does not speak of Northern Rhône to me, and maybe not even of Syrah; given that, the Ecocert label is of little significance. I dumped the rest of the bottle, and I can't remember ever doing that for a wine that is not objectively faulty.
Not a success as far as I am concerned. Blacklisted.

  • 12.5% alcohol. Good cork with virtually no wine penetration. Decanted an hour ahead. Heavy deposit on the side of the bottle, and plenty of deposit in the glass even though I decanted only 2/3 of the bottle.
Deep youthful colour. The nose is pleasant in a slightly rustic way, with olive aromas. The mouth is vivacious and it has good grip, but the fruit is somewhat blurred, and there is a rough feel to it, bordering on acetic.
Not tired as such, but I find it hard to believe that it will ever turn into a fine wine. No oak influence.
One of the least successful Crozes to come my way, and not a repeat purchase; give me Combier, Darnaud, Graillot or Tardieu any time.
In fact, I am seriously considering consigning the remaining bottles to cooking duties.

  • 12.5% alcohol. Good long dense cork. Decanted an hour ahead of the meal.
Medium colour with just a hint of ageing at the edge of the rim. Lively nose of cherries with some violet. The taste is along the same lines with the usual pleasant pharmaceutical note characteristic of Syrah in the finish.
A good Crozes of the light and slightly high-pitched variety; very pure, and no sign of oak.
    A repeat purchase probably.

  • Decanted 1 hr prior to drinking. Slightly light in color for a syrah. Interesting aroma - I could smell the wine from a foot away, yet when I sniffed my glass the aromas of black fruit & spice seemed weak. This is a quality syrah with little complexity, but it's quite smooth. It also paired fairly well with a beef tendorloin, although the moderate tannins didn't quite stand up to the rub. Don't wait too long on this one.

  • Vibrant cherry and blackcurrant nose. Strong tannins quickly sofen to give a rich and rewarding wine with pleasantly modest alcohol.
