Takes time to open up and doesn’t move much over 2 days. The dark side of Pinot showing cherry fruit, strawberry, spices and earth. Just a hint of forest floor. Good depth and complexity. Ready to drink but will evolve.

Not decanted, one glass consumed alongside dinner at a friend's house. Seepage all around the cork (again), but any ill effects seemed to be minor. This was certainly more open than a few years back, but only seemed a little more developed. Firm red cherry/cranberry fruit at the core, with other savory and earthy and herbal notes bouncing around but not quite cohering in the 30 minutes I spent with this. Maybe just a hint of oxidation that shouldn't have been there. Plenty of acidity and tannins are still showing a little grippy. Nice enough, but if I had more, I would hide them away for at least a couple more years.

1/2 consumed over 1 1/2 hours on night 1, some left for another evening. The cork was seeping on this one, but there didn't seem to be any ill effect to the wine. Youthful but closed, with a reserved nose of floral notes and black licorice. On the palate, the main impression is of tart cranberries with background notes of earth and soft wood or mushrooms. Tannins are gentle but present.
I'm not very experienced with burgundy, but I'd guess that this needs at least another year or two before it comes out of its shell.
Burgundy Fest 1.0 (Waterford Wine Co., Milwaukee): Quiet aromas, but some really tight wood and fruit arise. A laser that misses my nose but hits me in the brain somewhere. Quite serious thoughts on the palate, but tight and this really just seems to need some more time to open up.
