I'm not buying any more italian or french wine. I guess I'm just a california cab snob. musty on the nose with little fruit and cloudy color. dumped out and went to silver oak 2000 alex valley.

The wine comes across as soft and supple, yet at the same time it's well structured with good acidity. This is simply a very well structured and balanced wine. The palate is enticing, enjoyable, and complex, with notes of blackberry in the forefront plus notes of anise and ripe black cherries, which persist through the intense finish. While this wine is rounded by new oak, it complements rather than obscures the character of the wine. In short, I really like it. The "Rapace" is Uccelliera's Super-Tuscan, a blend of 70% Sangiovese, 20% Merlot, and 10% Cabernet. Since 2002 was a bad year for Brunello, perhaps some of the vineyard's best sangiovese ended up in this blend. 91+
