This was excellent tonight almost immediately after opening with rich, penetrating, red fruit and earthy, sous bois notes. Quite nice and drinking well right now, although, I don’t think there’s any hurry at all here.

excellent pairing with well-prepared duck meal. -some mushroom notes at first, then forest floor, followed by raspberry, red cherry, black licorice, plenty of mineral, fantastic overall!

WineBerserkers Bay Area Burgundy Tasting (Martins West, Redwood City): Slightly corked, but still has some fruit, nice complexity on the nose; palate is medium bodied, good red fruit, but gets a bit of bitterness and flat on the midpalate, flat finish. Flawed. Would love to try this again at a later date.

La Paulee Grant Tasting, San Francisco 2012; 2/25/2012-2/29/2012 (St Francis Hotel, San Francisco): Beautiful deep medium cherry, good acidity, elegant and very balanced for the vintage.
