I had just tried the latest offering of this wine from Dry Creek at a Sonoma Tasting in Toronto and found it quite appealing, so that is what sparked my interest in this older version I've been letting languish in my cellar far too long. I knew it would not bear any resemblance to the fresher version I just tried, but was curious all the same. Here a nose of prunes and dried cherries ruled while flavour-wise there was some sweet dried fruit, smoked cherry and vanilla nuances ... I would have to say I was pretty impressed with this wine also, for a wine I thought might be completely dead this old girl showed signs of life.

Not expecting much from a 6 year old Zin, but nose was still super jammy right out of bottle. Also lots of plum, black pepper and oak notes. Tannins still present but fading, surprisingly little spice/heat. Some plum, and cherry, but fruit is definitely waning - I would have expected a lot more form the initial nose. A little thin. Overall, I was surprised at how well this has held up. 86 pts

Maybe a little past its prime. Somewhat muted but all around still drinkable. Had it with BBQ burgers and it worked

A little dissapointing from the last bottle I had. The fruit sort of faded away. Didn't hold up well with age.

Deep ruby color. Aroma of dark plums. Taste of plums and dark cherries. Nicely balanced tannis and acids. Medium finish. Good buy for price.
