Wine Education Service - France - The South West (LSE): Dense blackcurrant hue with little age. Fruity cabernet sauvignon nose, a hint of animal development, cloves. Soft ripe fruit, ripe tannins, drinking well but will keep 5 to 8 years.

WES - France - The South West (LSE Holborn): Intense with a purple hue. Brambles and blood on the now with a herby note, a touch of clove. Quite tannic but ripe. Lush fruit with brambles and herbs following through.

Fabulous for the $13 price tag and dang good by any other measure. 70% braucol (i.e. fer sevardou) and 30% cabernet sauvignon, all Demeter-certified. Yep, there's definitely a tinge of iron here, but this very dry and quite concentrated (but not heavy) wine is dominated primarily by blackcurrant fruit, black pepper, dried herbs, and a hint of fresh mint; more like a concentrated Anjou or Bourgueil than a Bordeaux, I think. It's full but not rich, it's only 12.5%, and nice acidity drives this down the palate. This is more complete than it is complex, but it shows nice presence at midpalate,
