Just too modern for me. Very ripe and dark in colour. The nose is of black rasapberry jam, blackberry coulis, plums, some crushed rock, a hint of herbs, and a touch of prunes. The palate is very lush and primary. Just not really my style these days.

Perfumed, herbal and savory. Plenty of garrigue. Fairly straightforward Rhone red, medium-plus tannins and medium finish. Earthy and stewed. Good everyday Vac but lacking verve and disappointing at nearly 30 bucks.

At the top of it's game. Succulent, spicy, lots of mid-palate depth - pretty much everything you want at the price-point. Very pleasantly surprised as I still don't consider Vac. To be super dependable 5+yrs from vintage.

Nice wine, not outstanding today though. Blue and purple fruited, with licorice, cedar, graphite, and a light meaty note. Palate is youthful, structured and tannic, with great refreshing acidity on the finish. Typical and nicely done Vacqueyras with the structure and stuffing to improve. Just a bit on the tight side today with room for improvement, but will it hit parker's 93 points? Not sure, but have two more bottles in the cellar waiting to find out.
